About Der W
DER W is the musical project of singer, guitarist and songwriter Stephan Weidner. For more than 40 years, the musician has been a defining figure on the German rock scene. As a member of the Böhsen Onkelz, he enjoyed numerous number-one albums, sold millions of records and played to hundreds of thousands of fans.
With DER W, Weidner has created an independent artistic space where personal experiences, social observations and existential questions converge. His German-language rock songs tell of loss and new beginnings, doubt and hope, resistance and self-determination.
Almost two decades after the project’s inception, DER W remains a key expression of his musical and personal development. The concerts are characterised by their intensity and the special connection between the band and the audience. At the heart of the performances are songs that combine individual experiences with collective emotions and develop a dynamic of their own when performed live.
