About Forager
FORAGER is an indie rock trio from Brooklyn, New York, that blends contemporary rock with polyrhythmic grooves, melismatic vocals, and a structural freedom that is unparalleled in today’s guitar-driven music. Singer Shyamala Ramakrishna, guitarist and bassist Jack Broza, and drummer Colum Enrique play together as if they’ve developed their own musical language—one that’s both accessible and complex, direct and surprising.
The band made a name for itself as a live act long before a wider audience took notice. Sold-out shows in New York and across the U.S., three top entries in the prestigious NPR Tiny Desk Contest, and their own Tiny Desk Concert performance attest to a fan base won over by genuine musical substance. NPR editor Bobby Carter summed up the fascination with FORAGER in a pithy phrase: “Buttery, complex: where have you been all my life?!?”
With their debut album Pipedream Firewood (2023), FORAGER established their signature style, which blends indie rock, art pop, and post-jazz into something uniquely their own. Their sophomore album, Even a Child Can Cover the Sun with a Finger (2026), continues down this path with heightened intensity: rougher production choices, harmonically more complex structures, and lyrics that speak as much of adult disillusionment as they do of the clarity that comes with time. The album was developed primarily on stage, a fact clearly evident in its energy and directness.
FORAGER embody a form of indie rock that sees no contradiction between intellectual curiosity and emotional immediacy. Their music demands attention, yet rewards it anew with every listen.
