About Howie Day
Howie Day is an American singer-songwriter from Bangor, Maine. His music combines emotional songwriting, catchy pop melodies, and atmospheric arrangements with elements of folk and alternative rock. His live performances play a special role in this: using effects pedals and loop sampling, Howie Day combines vocals, guitar riffs, and percussion into multi-layered arrangements that sound like a full band.
Day initially wrote, financed, and released his debut album, Australia, independently. After signing with Epic Records, he achieved his international breakthrough with Stop All the World Now. The album went platinum in the U.S. and produced two Top 10 radio hits: “She Says” and “Collide.” “Collide” went quadruple platinum and became his best-known song.
With the albums Sound the Alarm and Lanterns, Howie Day further developed his atmospheric singer-songwriter sound. While recording Lanterns, he once again collaborated with his longtime producer Mike Denneen; the album features guest appearances by Aimee Mann, among others. Several hundred million streams, over a million albums sold, and tours across North America, Australia, Asia, and Europe attest to his enduring international appeal.
