About King Stingray
King Stingray is the story of a lifelong friendship. The band from Yirrkala, North-East Arnhem Land combines traditional Yolŋu Manikay chants with surf rock, indie and funk - an explosive mix that has earned them worldwide attention. Their self-titled debut album (2022) was awarded five ARIA nominations and the Australian Music Prize, while several singles landed in the triple j Hottest 100.
After touring with Midnight Oil and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, as well as playing to over 100,000 people at the MCG Stadium, King Stingray have cemented their status as one of Australia's most exciting new bands. Their second album For The Dreams reflects their recent experiences and is an energetic, optimistic work about life, nature and the power of music.
With their do-it-yourself mentality and unmistakable live presence, King Stingray have wowed audiences at festivals such as Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival and on sold-out tours.
