The folk a cappella supergroup The Wellermen announces German dates for May 2025.
The bass-singing folk group The Wellermen, who were discovered during the viral sea shanty trend at the beginning of 2021, are going on their Northern Sky UK & EU Tour and will be giving three concerts in Germany in May 2025.
The four members of the Wellermen – Bobby Waters and Luke Taylor from the USA and Jonny Stewart and Sam Pope from the UK – originally only had one personal encounter with each other before they became famous through the duet of a seemingly harmless sea shanty song (“Wellerman”) on TikTok. Since then, the video has reached over 100 million views on various platforms worldwide. The Wellermen went on to appear at high-profile events and TV shows such as the Brit Awards, Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Take Away, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, The Colbert Show and ABC News Australia.
With their sudden viral fame, The Wellermen raised money for a good cause and donated the proceeds from the song Wellerman to the Marine Conservation Society to give something back to the oceans.
Since then, the group has released their self-titled debut album, which includes numerous other viral hits, including “Misty Mountains,” “Nancy Mulligan,” and the phenomenon “Hoist The Colours,” which reached #3 on the global TikTok Sound Charts in February 2024. With over 150 million streams and a global fan base of millions, the band has now become a fixture on the music scene.
After their first US tour in June 2024, The Wellermen will release their highly anticipated second album in winter 2024.
