About Max Richter

Max Richter confirms additional concert in Berlin!

Just in time for the second single "Poetry of the Earth" from his eagerly awaited album "In A Landscape", the composer announces another concert as part of his first ever world tour with five concerts in Germany.

Richter will therefore be performing in Berlin (18 and 19 November 2024, Admiralspalast), Hamburg (26 November 2024, Laeiszhalle), Wiesbaden (2 December 2024, Kurhaus) and Munich (4 December 2024, Isarphilharmonie).

One of the most influential and recognised composers of his generation, Richter is known for his ability to seamlessly blend traditional orchestrations with modern electronic elements. After a career spanning decades, Richter's impact on the music industry cannot be overstated. With his unique ability to translate the most profound human experiences into musical compositions, he has built a loyal fan base worldwide; his works have been streamed more than three billion times. In particular, his groundbreaking album ‘SLEEP’ is one of the most streamed classical albums of all time.

His groundbreaking album ‘The Blue Notebooks’ is still capturing new audiences today - it celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2024. The epic centrepiece of the recording, ‘On The Nature of Daylight’, was recently featured in the acclaimed post-apocalyptic drama ‘The Last Of Us’ on HBO and has also been used in numerous other films and television productions over the years. Last year, Richter performed the entire programme from the album with Tilda Swinton at the Glastonbury Festival. The actress spoke the lyrics that she had contributed to the recording on stage alongside Richter.

In addition to his solo performances, Richter is frequently involved in collaborative productions and works with renowned creative artists and visionaries from a wide range of styles. From compositions for Dior designer Kim Jones and ballet works for choreographer Wayne McGregor to his scores for film and television productions by directors Denis Villeneuve, Martin Scorsese and Ari Folman, Richter's versatility is his trademark.

His close collaboration with Wayne McGregor has resulted in one success after another; the highly regarded composer has written a work for McGregor's new production of Maddaddam, which was performed at London's Royal Opera House last November. The visionary ballet is based on Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel of the same name about doom and salvation. The two artists had previously created the collaborative work Woolf Works, which will premiere at the Met in New York in June this year.

Richter and his partner, the artist Yulia Mahr, founded Studio Richter Mahr together. The couple have set up the multimedia production studio in a former farmhouse in rural Oxfordshire. Energy is supplied by a modern solar system coupled with heat pump technology. The property is situated on a good 12 hectares of wooded land. Here, the couple are passionate about farming in order to offer aspiring and established creatives space to develop in a sustainable, self-sufficient working environment.
